Quick tips while you're here
- The bite is usually strongest around dawn and dusk and during a moving tide.
- A falling barometer ahead of a front often turns fish on; bright, flat, high-sun midday is the slowest.
- New and full moons bring bigger tides and stronger solunar feeding periods.
- Set the water type (saltwater vs freshwater) to match your spot for the most accurate score.

Learn Fishing — Guides
Tide Education
Fish structure that funnels or breaks that current: inlets, cuts, bridge pilings, points, oyster bars and dock lines. On an incoming, work up-current of structure and let your bait wash to the fish. Spring tides (around the new and full moon) move the most water and can supercharge the bite; neap tides (half moons) move the least. The dashboard tide card and best-window tool already flag when the water's moving for you.
Moon Phase Guide
Rough playbook by phase: New moon — strong tides, dark nights push more feeding into dawn/dusk. Full moon — strong tides and bright nights; fish often feed heavily overnight and can be slower midday, so fish early. Quarter (half) moons — weaker neap tides, gentler bite. The best days often sit in the few days on either side of the new and full moon, when strong tides line up with major solunar windows. Check the Moon card and the Calendar tab's moon strip to plan around it.
Weather Guide to Fishing
Clouds & light: overcast, low-light dawn and dusk spread fish out and make them bold. Bright, high sun pushes them to shade, depth and structure. Wind is a friend in moderation — a light chop breaks up the surface and stacks bait on the windblown shore; too much makes it unsafe and unfishable. Rain: a little can trigger feeding and wash food in; heavy rain muddies the water and drops the bite. Temperature sets the pace — fish are cold-blooded, so a warming trend in cool water wakes them up, while extreme heat sends them deep. Your dashboard already scores all of these together.
